GQ Woman of the Year 2020

Men of the Year – or “MOTY” as the Awards are affectionately known by GQ’s editorial team – is one of South Africa’s most prestigious awards ceremonies.

The ceremony that took place in December 2020 , awarded Bonang Matheba with the prestigious Women of The Year Award.

GQ Men of the Year recognizes the men and women who shape our cultural landscape, as well as the most intelligent and inspiring people of the year. Despite it being a pandemic, Bonang has had a strong year as a businesswoman, entertainer and an all-round woman who has inspired all of us throughout 2020,” said Molife Kumona, Editor-in-Chief for GQ South Africa.

FORBES WOMEN AFRICA: Top 50 POWER LIST

Bonang was featured by Forbes Women Africa, in the Top 50 Power List along with Ugandan executive director of UNAIDS Winnie Byanyima, Cameroonian born technology entrepreneur Rebecca
Enonchong and former trade unionist and businesswoman, South African, Irene Charnley.

Forbes Woman Africa is an award-winning pan-African title profiling trailblazers in business, society and life while inciting debate on issues that matter.

Global Social Awards

In May 2019 Bonang won the coveted Award for Best Inspiration & Influence at the prestigious Global Social Awards held in Prague, Czech Republic.

Winners are voted for by the public world-wide and The Global Social Awards (GLOSA) is a celebration and honouring of popular figures from the world of social media, which this year bought more than 40 global influencers to Prague.

DSTV Mzansi Viewers Choice Awards

The DStv Mzansi Viewers’ Choice Awards is a South African award show presented by DStv.

The awards honour the year’s biggest achievements in television, radio, music, sports, and comedy, voted by viewers living in South Africa.

In March 2020, Bonang won Favourite Personality of the Year.

Sunday Times Generation Next Awards

Now in its 15th year, the Sunday Times Generation Next Awards survey polls more than seven thousand youths from around the country, across more than seventy categories, and is considered the leading barometer of what SA’s kids, teens and young adults find on-trend and aspirational.

Bonang was nominated and won in new category of Coolest Online Influencer.

GLAMOUR’s Most Glamourous:
Celebrity Icon Award 2019

Saturday 14th of September Glamour held their annual Glamour’s Most Glamourous Awards ceremony.

GMG is about honouring and celebrating women in all their diversity and in all their glory. From modern to quirky, edgy and funky, to poised and sophisticated.

Alongside 10 other women Bonang was nominated as one of GLAMOUR’s Most Glamourous – with Bonang winning the title of Celebrity Icon.

E! Entertainment People’s Choice Award:
African Influencer of the Year Award 2019

In October 2019 Bonang Matheba won the newest & hottest contested category in the E! People’s Choice Awards, “African Influencer of the Year”.

The E! People’s Choice Awards is an American awards show, recognizing people in entertainment, voted online by the general public and fans, and this is the first time, on a global scale, that E! is recognising some of Africa’s most iconic and influential talent.

In the “African Influencer of the Year” category, Bonang was nominated alongside Africa’s finest talent including Wizkid, Davido, Tiwa Savage, Cassper Nyovest, Yemi Alade, DiamondPlatnumz and Minnie Dlamini-Jones.

COSMO Influencer Awards

In June 2019 Cosmo Magazine held their first ever COSMO Influencer Awards.

Bonang walked away as winner of the Celebrity Influencer category.

E! Entertainment Award

Bonang was announced as one of the recipients of the E! Africa Ultimate Pop Culture Icon Award ahead of the TV channel's 15-year anniversary celebrations in April 2019.

The awards recognise some of the most iconic and influential people in the region, acknowledging the best in the business including: Music, Fashion, Film, TV, Social Media, Philanthropy and Ultimate Pop Culture Icon.
