The Blog

She presented an award at MTV’s first ever Africa Music Awards in Durban this past July, now – red carpet queen Bonang Matheba, will be jetting off to the city of Glasgow, to cover MTV’s European Music Awards red carpet, alongside South Africa’s top online pop culture and entertainment news hub Zalebs SA.

Although the awards are taking place on the 9th of November, Bonang will make her way to finding out what the world’s musical A-listers have to say about everything that is anything on 06th November.

After having produced my own red carpet show for the South African Music Awards, and sharpening up my expertise as a broadcast professional, I am more than ready to do what I love the most on international platforms like the EMA’s. This opportunity is a showcase of Africa’s growth and involvement in the bigger picture of the international business of entertainment – I’m really exhilarated to be representing African media at MTV’s EMA red carpet”, said Queen B*

While Bonang gets ready to tell the continent what the super rich and famous of the international music scene were wearing and getting up to on a red carpet fit for the world’s biggest music awards, Mzansi stands in full support of its home grown star as it awaits to hear from her, what the who’s who of the global music scene felt about their nominations and ultimately, who walks away with the highly contested European Music Award – Best African Act.

Stay tuned for more news on Bonang’s road to the EMAs and make sure you keep up with the red carpet maven as “Bonang Takes Glasgow”.

Entertainment sweetheart Bonang Matheba has joined the line-up of judges for Miss South Africa 2014.

The woman from Mahikeng, known as Girl B or Queen B to her hordes of fans, is the face of a cosmetics brand and an underwear range and is also a Top Billing presenter.

Others charged with choosing the fairest young woman in the land are magazine editor and poet Kojo Baffoe and Miss SA 1992 Amy Kleinhans-Curd.

The three join TV and radio personality Anele Mdoda and magazine editor Pnina Fenster, who shortlisted the beauties in the reality TV-style talent search.

Another judge, DJ Black Coffee, resigned from the panel after he found that one of the finalists was related to his wife.

In a statement, the beauty pageant organisers announced that the panel of five would judge the Top 12 contestants on intelligence, leadership, talent, physical fitness and a dedication to community service.

The Top 12 Miss SA finalists are Anzél Stofberg, Jade Hubner and Mishka Patel from Western Cape; Caylene Marais, Tidimalo Sehlako and Tshegofatso Monggae from Gauteng; Dipalesa Mbola and Rolene Strauss from Free State; Julia Petersen from KwaZulu-Natal; Matlala Mokoko from Limpopo; Abigail de Jager from Mpumalanga and Ziphozakhe Zokufa from Eastern Cape.

The Miss South Africa finals will take place at the Sun City Superbowl on Sunday March 30.

Johannesburg – Bonang Matheba, the self-proclaimed “Queen Of Everything” is showing no signs of slowing down in 2014. Just a few weeks into the New Year, Queen B*, as she is affectionately known, has announced an exciting partnership with retail giant Woolworths South Africa. The said partnership saw B* collaborate with the retailer in her 1st and gorgeously sexy lingerie line called ‘Distraction By Bonang’.

“Anyone that knows me understands that I love looking good, and that process for me begins with picking the right lingerie”, said the Top Billing Presenter. The elated beauty says she was very involved in the design process, which began mid-2013. “Walking into the partnership, I knew I wanted to put my heart and soul into the collection. I had very specific ideas I wanted to explore and a clear direction. I am truly grateful to Woolworths for granting me the freedom to tap into my creativity and the guidance throughout the process”, added Bonang.

In a recent interview, Bonang said the most important thing for her about the collection was that it had to be sexy, comfortable and enchanting, while embracing a woman’s femininity. The range, which comprises of three collections, is set to launch on January 20th at selected Woolworths stores, just in time for Valentine’s Day.
