They have dubbed her the entertainment lady of NOW and there seems to be no stopping.
Bonang Matheba, the 25-year-old TV and Radio Personality has made it onto another power list, after being recognised by New African Magazine as one of 50 African Trailblazers under the age of 50.
Bonang is honoured among other powerful South African personalities like Charlize Theron, Lira, Khanyi Dlomo on this highly coveted list that acknowledges Pan African Success.
Not only has she set the presenting bar so high in South Africa, but her star continue to shine in all her other roles as a voice artist, handbag designer, actress, model and philanthropist. Bonang Matheba continues to show that there is nothing that she can’t do. She has graced the covers of almost every magazine in South Africa and is one of the few women with a verified twitter account with over 400 000 followers bowing down to her majesty.
“This was such a pleasant surprise to me, because when I wake up every morning to do what I do, its not in search of accolades but it is to perfect my craft, so when I do get acknowledged I always feel very humbled” says Bonang Matheba.
Earlier this year Forbes Africa Magazine named her one of the top women to watch out for in 2013 and it is becoming clear why the world must watch out for her. Her swift move across the entertainment spectre from the youthful SABC 1 platform to a more mature SABC 3 channel has elevated not only her level of presenting but also her fan base to an older more diverse demographic.
At the age of 25 the media belle is already referred to as a veteran of the media industry. She truly has established herself as the Queen of entertainment in South Africa, and it seems the rest of the continent is also watching.
The May edition of New African Magazine was guest edited by Ghanaian designer, Ozwald Boateng, a World Economic Forum Young Global Leader and founder of the Made in Africa Foundation. With a hot line up of African movers and shakers like MTV’s Alex Okosi, Barack Obama, musicians P-Square and D Banj, The 5O Trailblazers of the year 2013 are in a league of their own.
